10 Jul RE Magazine features PUPI® collaboration with EKPC
PUPI®’s fiberglass davit arm product was recently featured in Rural Electric (RE) Magazine, the flagship publication of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA). The article highlighted our collaboration with East Kentucky Power Cooperative to solve lightning-caused reliability issues on new line sections using steel davit arms.
“During mechanical and electrical testing, [PUPI’s fiberglass davit arms] demonstrated significantly higher flashover values when compared to steel davit arms and have performed flawlessly since install on the co-op’s lines,” wrote the publication.
We attribute our davit arm’s electrical performance to its insulative nature; meaning improved BIL and electrical margins compared to steel. This, as well as a resistance to corrosion and degradation, contributes to a 60 year service life for excellent longevity.
Outside of the featured project with EKPC, our fiberglass davit arms have also received rave reviews from lineman regarding the ease of installation due to its light-weight yet durable construction. PUPI davit arms weigh significantly less than steel crossarm options, making our products an installation favorite.
